The feeder has a feed station formed of a tubular frame (1) with an inlet (2) and an outlet (3), and transponders (6) mounted on a collar of animals i.e. horses. All individual feeding data i.e. feed access time per day, of the relevant animals is stored in the respective transponders. The feeding data stored in the transponders are directly transmitted by an antenna device (7) and through a transponder scanner (8) into a control unit (9). Individual horse data are converted into corresponding control instructions and delivered to a dosage device (4a) and a feed grid (4b) of the station.
