<p>A method for contracting transportation. A contractor (62) uses scanning apparatus to accurately determine the volume (86) of objects to be moved, and sends out contractor requests for quotation (76) to a large number of moving companies (80). The contractor (62) forwards the resulting moving company quotes (68) to the customer (60), who communicates the winning quote to the contractor (62). The contractor (62) may perform the transportation work himself for the winning quote price. In the alternative, the contractor (62) may award the work to the moving company which supplied the winning quote, in which case the winning moving company (82) remits a commission (90) to the contractor (62) for procuring the transportation work for the winning moving company (82).</p> |
