<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit capable of suppressing generation of play and wrinkles of the optical sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The back light unit 200 of this invention comprises a light source, a light guide part 202 for guiding light from the light source, an optical sheet part laminated on the light guide part 202, a housing 201 for containing them, and an oblong frame part 100 disposed on the opening of the housing 201.The frame part 100 has a projection 101 at each of corners A and B of the short side "a" and the projections 101 are fitted to the upper surface of the optical sheet part. Further, the surface of each projection 101 is curved with a convex towards the optical sheet part.
