<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of reducing thickness, size, weight and cost, and to provide a liquid crystal device using the lighting system and an electronic apparatus using the liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting system 4 is provided whose side end face 36 of a lightguide plate 30 is so formed that its surface orientation crosses diagonally with an outgoing surface 37 of the light of the lightguide plate 30. So, the side end face 36, for example, of the light guide plate 30 is not especially required to be thicker than other portion, and a light crystal device 1 can be made thinner, for easy manufacturing and manufacturing cost reduction. Further, the size of the side end face 36 can be matched with the height of a light emission surface 35a of a light source 29 by adjusting the diagonal angle. The lightguide plate 30 of constant thickness can be provided free from the height of the light source, and the liquid crystal device 1 is made thinner easily at a low cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
