<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission having simple construction with no size increase of a casing for preventing the runout of lubricating oil in a lubricated part. <P>SOLUTION: The toroidal type continuously variable transmission comprises an oil tank 208 provided outside the upper part of the casing 50 for reserving lubricating oil which lubricates the lubricated part, and an opening/closing means for opening/closing a discharge port 208a of the oil tank 208 opened toward the inside of the casing 50. Since the discharge port 208a of the oil tank 208 is opened/closed by the opening/closing means, the discharge port 208a of the oil tank 208 is opened when stopping the drive of the transmission, to introduce the lubricating oil in the oil tank 208 into the casing 50 on the lower side. Therefore, the casing 50 (a variator) is put into the condition of being filled with the lubricating oil (the lubricating oil is reserved in the casing 50), and the lubricated part such as a traction face is immersed in the reserved lubricating oil. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
