<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element, such as high-accuracy retardation element where a thin film-like birefringent material is stuck and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: A very thin retardation plate 14 is held between a first substrate 11 and a second substrate 12 via adhesive layers 16, 17. In this case, a flat curved face 14d at a boundary between a 1st adhesive layer 16 and the retardation plate 14 and a flat curved face 14e at a boundary between a 2nd adhesive layer 17 and the retardation plate 14 cancel out each other, and consequently, production of refractive force as a lens can be prevented in the retardation plate 14. Thus the phenomenon that light passing through a phase optical element 10 of a flat-shape, as a whole, will condenses or disperses according to the refraction difference in a topological optical element 10 can be suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
