PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the occurrence of the disturbance of an image is prevented by detecting a change in the sticking state of toner particles of a dispersant, in recycling of the recovered liquid toner and by adjusting the recovered liquid toner, on the basis of the result thereof. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus uses the liquid toner and is provided with a developing roller 54K, a toner-supplying roller 51K, a regulation blade 52K, a developing roller 54K, and a compression roller 55K arranged facing the developing roller 54K. The compression roller 55K has function of imparting electric field to the liquid toner on the developing roller 54K and to compress the solid content toward the developing roller 54 side. Furthermore, the image forming apparatus recovers the liquid toner on the developing roller 54K and reuses the liquid toner recovered. The image forming apparatus has a current detecting means for detecting the current flowing from the compression roller 55K to the developing roller 54K, and a liquid toner adjustment means for adjusting the recovered liquid toner, on the basis of the data of the current detecting means.
