摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication apparatus in which the position is quickly and accurately adjustable to guide the incident position of light from an LD to the vicinity of the core center of an optical fiber even when the optical fiber is held by a holding member. SOLUTION: The optical communication apparatus comprises: a light source; an optical transmission means which is composed of the optical fiber and the holding member and passes the light which is made incident to the core on the incident end face; a focusing lens disposed between the light source and the optical transmission means; a moving means which moves a spot formed on the incident end face by the light passing through the focusing lens to first and second directions; a light receiving means which receives the light reflected on the incident end face on a plurality of light receiving areas; first and second output difference calculation means which generate respective output difference signals regarding the shifts of the spot center with respect to the core center in the first and the second directions on the basis of the outputs from the respective light receiving areas; a summation signal generation means which generates a summation signal by summing outputs from all light receiving areas; and a control means which drives and controls the moving means on the basis of the respective signals.
