Methods and apparatus for synchronizing a first clock (104) of a transmit node (102) and a second clock (112) of receive node (110) in a packet netwo rk (103) are provided. Consecutive intervals of time-stamped packets transfe rred from the transmit node (102) to the receive node (110) are selected. Th e consecutive intervals have a difference in delay noise within a defined ac ceptance window. A correction factor is determined for the second clock (112 ) in accordance with transmit and receive time stamps of transferred time-st amped packets bounding the consecutive intervals. The correction factor is a pplied to the second clock (112) to synchronize the second clock (112) of th e receive node (110) with the first clock (104) of the transmit node (102).< /SDOAB>
