<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight durable abradable seal for a gas turbine engine. <P>SOLUTION: A coating part of the abradable seal consists of a matrix material and a filling material. The matrix material of the abradable seal provides both metal characteristics and ceramic characteristics to the abradable seal and balances anticollosiveness and machinability. The metal characteristics of the abradable seal brings high durability and corrosion resistance against shock damage. Mechanically weak and abrasive properties of ceramics that the abradable seal has suppresses smearing and burr formation and reduces frictional force. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
