<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device achieving a high numerical aperture by suppressing the occurrence of orientation failure, and to provide a method of manufacturing the liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device includes: a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other by sandwiching a liquid crystal layer; a first electrode formed in the side of the liquid crystal layer of the first substrate; a second electrode 9 formed on the first electrode via an insulation film 13; and an alignment layer 18 for covering the insulation film 13 and the second electrode 9. The second electrode 9 has a plurality of strip electrode parts 9c extending in a direction of a substrate face, making one end of an extending direction a connection end 9e and making the other end an open end 9d, and a connection part 9a for connecting each connection end 9e of the plurality of the strip electrode parts 9c, respectively. The second electrode 9 is provided with wiring 6a parallel and adjacent to a connection part 9a and provided with a region transmitting light between the connection part 9a and the wiring 6a. The alignment layer 18 is subjected to rubbing processing in a direction of being directed from the wiring 6a to the connection end 9e. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
