PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively implement safety in side impact and safety in longitudinal impact of a vehicle. SOLUTION: Side body structure of a vehicle for an automobile comprises: a side door 3 opening/closing an opening part 1 for getting in/getting out formed to a side face part of a body; a rear side panel 9 constituting a body side wall in the rear of the side door 3, and having a lower periphery to which a wheel house part 13 expanded in a vehicle width direction is formed; and a side sill 8 longitudinally extended in a side part on a side of the body, and having a rear end part connected with a lower end part of the rear side panel 9. A reinforcement member 31 is disposed to the rear end part of the side sill 8 with a state where it is adjacent to a front end part of the wheel house part 13, so that a closed-section face extended in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body b is constituted between the reinforcement member 31 and the side sill 8. Restriction means 34, 47 are disposed between the reinforcement member 31 and the side door 3 so as to restrict longitudinal movement of a side door when closed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
