PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of efficiently disposing a decoration part without damaging the decoration part, and to provide a manufacturing method of the liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 is provided with: a liquid crystal cell 2 prepared by enclosing liquid crystal 10 in between a pair of transparent substrates 5, 6 whose opposite surfaces respectively have transparent electrodes 7, 8; a first polarizing plate 3 disposed on the upper side of the liquid crystal cell 2; and a second polarizing plate 4 disposed on the lower side of the liquid crystal cell 2, wherein the decoration part 12 is disposed in between the liquid crystal cell 2 and the first polarizing plate 3 to be covered with a transparent protective film 13. Accordingly, an attaching operation of the decoration part 12 is made unnecessary, the decoration part 12 is not damaged during the manufacturing step and can be satisfactorily disposed in between the liquid crystal cell 2 and the first polarizing plate 3 because the decoration part 12 is covered with the transparent protective film 13, at the same time, a level difference due to the layer thickness of the decoration part 12 can be dissolved by the transparent protective film 13, thereby, the production of air bubbles can be prevented in between the transparent protective film 13 and the first polarizing plate 3 and the display quality can be enhanced.
