PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate that contributes to reduction in luminance variations and light leakage occurring in a liquid crystal display, and to provide a liquid crystal display device that is reduced in luminance unevennessand light leakage. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate consists of a polarizing film, a protective film for protecting the polarizing film arranged on at least one surface top of the polarizing film, and a high modulus member having elastic modulus valuehigher than that of the elastic modulus of the protective film. The polarizing film is formed such that the high modulus member comes into contact with one surface of the protective film to be arranged in a frame-shape.
