The retractor (10) has a coupling mechanism with a pivotable brake unit (50) that retards a coupling disc (34) during a rotation of a wheel in one direction and pivots during the rotation of the wheel in another opposite direction such that the brake unit does not influence the coupling disc. A brake gear tooth is coupled with the coupling disc, where the brake unit is triggered during the rotation of the wheel in the former direction. The brake gear tooth is arranged at a brake wheel (40), which is connected with the coupling disc over a friction clutch.
