<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving image encoding apparatus capable of efficiently controlling a bit rate when images are divided in a temporal direction. <P>SOLUTION: The moving image encoding apparatus is equipped with a code volume allocation device 108 which analyzes the inputted images and calculates a code volume allocation, a buffer occupation volume prediction device 109 which does the simulation of the transition of a buffer occupation volume of a virtual decoder buffer according to the code volume allocation, an image dividing device 101 which divides the inputted images in a temporal direction and forms the temporally divided images, an initial delay volume calculating device 110 for calculating an initial delay volume at each dividing point at which the inputted images are temporally divided on the basis of the simulated buffer occupation volume, image encoding devices 102 to 106 for encoding the temporally divided images and forming the divided bit streams according to the code volume allocation and initial delay volume, and a bit stream combining device 107 for combining the divided bit streams to form a single bit stream. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
