PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for distributing information capable of easily and reliably listening the desired music. SOLUTION: The information distribution system comprises a car audio device 5 containing a radio receiver, a portable terminal 2, a radio station 4 for broadcasting music and disclosing on-air information, and an information distribution device 3 for distributing the information to tune the radio station 4. The information distribution device 3 is provided with: a means for receiving request information such as a title name, an artist name, and a genre of requested music, and a mail address; a means for registering the request information in association with the mail address; a means for accessing the radio station 4 periodically and retrieving the music suited for the request information from music in the on-air or to be on-air; and a means for transmitting the e-mail including the selection information for specifying the radio station 4 to airplay the music when there is the music suited for the request information.
