PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photo detector capable of expanding a dynamic range while suppressing an increase in circuit size. SOLUTION: In the photo detector, a cathode capacity Cpd is provided in a photodiode PD and charged and discharged by a current flowing to the photodiode PD. An overflow drain capacitor Cov is connected to the photodiode PD in parallel for charging and discharging a charge overflowing from the cathode capacitor Cpd. A current control transistor M1 is connected to a terminal at a side where the charge of the overflow drain capacitor Cov flows in, and allows a current for partially canceling a charge to flow, when the charge overflowing from the cathode capacitor Cpd is accumulated in the overflow drain capacitor Cov.
