<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device and vehicle antitheft system, which securely prevents vehicle theft without requiring a specific antitheft device. <P>SOLUTION: In the electric power steering device, when an IG switch 2 turned on/off to supply electric power to a motor 6 for steering assist is turned off, a short circuit 9 for motor lock comprising a relay contact short-circuits respective power supply cables 10, 10 for supplying electric power to the motor 6, so as to lock the motor 6. Even when the IG switch 2 is bypassed, a communication control part 3 monitors turning-on/off of the IG switch 2, and when the IG switch 2 is turned off, the short circuit 9 is made in the motor lock state via a relay drive circuit 4. Moreover, since an ECU 1 for the EPS including the short circuit 9 and the motor 6 are integrally stored inside a housing H, this prevents illegal work such as cutting and bypassing of the power supply cables, communication lines etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
