FIXING DEVICE OF ARBITRARY SHAPE FOLLOWING TYPE, INSPECTION/REPAIRING DEVICE EQUIPPED WITH IT AND INSPECTION/REPAIR METHOD USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which makes it possible to decrease the number of drive shafts of inspection and repairing devices and the like, to downsize and streamline the devices and to simplify control systems. SOLUTION: The device has a jointed structure consisting of a spherical rotator and a container which houses and holds the rotator and a rotator fixing mechanism which constrains the movement of the rotator. Moreover, the rotator fixing mechanism is equipped with magnetic particles placed in a sliding section of the rotator and an exciting coil which is set up outside the rotator to constrain the rotator by fixing the magnetic particles through electrification. This makes it possible to decrease the number of drive shafts of inspection and repairing devices and the like, to downsize and streamline the devices and to simplify control systems.
