PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling vegetable pest insects, which controls pest insects of plants, by using a blast-type pest insect control apparatus so as to efficiently obtain satisfactory control effects. SOLUTION: The method for controlling vegetable pest insects comprises using the blast type insect pest control apparatus 1 with which an apparatus body 10 is equipped with a blower 11 and a medicine support 12 and releasing air containing an insect pest control component from a discharge opening 13. An air receiving member 2 is faced to both sides of the insect pest control part 3a of a plant 3, the air released from the discharge opening 13 is blown on the insect pest control part 3a, is bounced back from the recessed part 2a of the air receiving number 2 and is retained and the circumference of the insect pest control part 3a is enclosed with the air to control insect pests.
