The method involves transmitting data from a base station (BS) to a passive transponder (TR) by data transmission protocol types. A carrier signal is transmitted with frequency range of 50-250 kilohertz from the station. The data transmission of the station is fed by producing a field distance of the carrier signal. Symbols transmitted from the station to the transponder are coded between field distances by associated time durations. The durations are assigned to symbol values. One of the types is selected by describing a configuration register (KR) e.g. electrically EPROM, in the transponder.
