<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for improving the cycle life of a battery. <P>SOLUTION: The battery separator includes a separator 10, and a conductive layer 14 installed on the separator. By applying the conductive layer so that the conductive layer comes into contact with an electrode, a new current route from or to the electrode is provided. The battery separator permits ions to flow between positive and negative electrodes, and prevents electrons from flowing between the positive and negative electrodes.
