PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate miniaturization by simplifying the constitution of a liquid transfer head. SOLUTION: An insulating layer 15 is formed to cover discrete electrodes 12 at a plurality of end parts of front ends in discrete ink channels 10. At the same time, an insulating layer 16 is formed in a region adjacent rearward of the insulating layer 15. When a ground potential is given to the discrete electrodes 12, an angle of wetting of ink at a surface of the insulating layer 15 is larger than an angle of wetting of ink at the surface of the insulating layer 16 (larger than a limiting angle of wetting), so that the ink is prevented from flowing into parts opposite the insulating layer 15 of the discrete ink channels 10. When a driving potential V<SB>1</SB>is given to the discrete electrodes, the angle of wetting of ink at parts corresponding to the discrete electrodes 12 on the surface of the insulating layer 15 becomes nearly equal to the angle of wetting of ink at the insulating layer 16 (not larger than the limiting angle of wetting), whereby the ink flows into the parts opposite the insulating layer 15 of the discrete ink channels 10 and is ejected from discharge openings 10a.
