PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction strand conveyer and method for manufacturing a fiber strand for the tobacco industry, enabling long service life even when the fiber strand is previously formed by a suction strand conveyer. SOLUTION: The cross section outline of a conveyer belt 2 in a separation area 20 of the strand 16 constructed on the conveyer belt 2 is made straight from the curved one, and a guide device is provided to set the cross section outline of the conveyer belt 2 in a fiber passage 6. A method for manufacturing a strand 16 of the tobacco working industry, especially a filter strand or a tobacco strand, includes: a step of supplying fiber on the conveyer belt 2 of the suction strand conveyer 1 partially having a curved cross section outline; and a step of forming the cross section outline of the conveyer belt 2 in the discharge area 20 to be straight, and transferring the supplied fiber in the direction 12 of a discharge area 20.
