PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem that a conventional ball mill crushing method uses only crushing heat, so that sufficient drying cannot be performed with the crushing heat and moisture condensation occurs in a ball mill pot when the moisture content in silicate ore increases, and the moisture condensation causes sticking of mill content, such as silicate ore powder, powder, and balls, to the inner wall of the pot, decreasing crushing efficiency or making crushing itself impossible. SOLUTION: In a ball mill crushing method of a copper smelting solvent where silicate ore is supplied from an opening formed in one of pot walls intersecting a rotary shaft of a horizontal ball mill into the ball mill pot, and crushed silicate ore is discharged from the opposite opening, hot air is blown into the ball mill pot through one of the openings during rotation of the mill pot, thereby promoting the drying of the silicate ore.
