A method for updating data broadcasting automatically and an apparatus thereof are provided to receive the data broadcasting automatically without separate key input by a user while the user watches A/V(Audio/Video) broadcasting through a broadcasting receiver, thereby enabling the user to watch the data broadcasting conveniently. A storage unit(24) stores information about an automatic data broadcasting update preset by a user. An RF(Radio Frequency) module(21) separates a data broadcasting signal preset by the user from a broadcasting signal. A data broadcasting signal decoder(25) decodes the data broadcasting signal separated from the RF module. A control unit(22) determines whether it is necessary to update data broadcasting according to information about the automatic data broadcasting update stored in the storage unit and controls the data broadcasting signal decoder to update the data broadcasting periodically. A data broadcasting signal decoder(25) decodes a data broadcasting signal separated from the RF module and outputs the data broadcasting signal to an audio output unit(28) and a video output unit(27). An audio/video broadcasting signal decoder(26) decodes an audio/video broadcasting signal separated from the RF module and outputs the audio/video broadcasting signal to an audio output unit and a video output unit.
