APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANAGING OFF-SCREEN BUFFERING

A device and a method for managing off-screen buffering are provided to reduce a copy frequency and improve a buffering speed of off-screen data generated until a window is drawn in a back buffer by setting an area to display the off-screen data of the window in the back buffer. An application(110) generates a window to be displayed to a screen and requests drawing the generated window. A back buffer(163) sets up an off-screen buffering area for storing off-screen data corresponding to the window. A buffer manager(152) draws the window in the off-screen buffering area set in the back buffer and stores the drawn window when drawing the window is requested. A main memory(140) backs up the off-screen data stored in the back buffer. The buffer manager checks whether the off-screen data of the window is stored in the main memory when the off-screen buffering area of the requested window is not assigned in the back buffer. The buffer manager updates the backup off-screen data to the back buffer when the off-screen data is backed up.
