<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of reducing power consumption and unnecessary consumption of toner without causing lowering of productivity of a printing job. <P>SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus 1 includes: a power control means 150 controlling to switch an ordinary power feeding mode to a power saving mode when power saving shift time T1 and power saving shift time T2 elapse during standby; a printing mode switching means 101f performing switching between a monochrome printing mode and a full color printing mode; and an initial printing mode setting means 101g setting an initial printing mode set when power is supplied to any mode.
