PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber for improving rigidity in the axial direction, while absorbing a shock, by absorbing vibration in the radial direction; and a carriage superior in straightly advancing stability. SOLUTION: This shock absorber 21 has an outer cylinder 24 interposed between a through-hole 13a formed in an installation part 13 of a sub-frame 12 and a shaft body 22 inserted into the through-hole 13a and fixed to a track frame 2, formed in a substantially cylindrical shape of absorbing the vibration propagating to the track frame 2 from the sub-frame 12 and fixed in a state of being inserted into the through-hole 13a by diametrically contracting or diametrically expanding an intermediate part 21c to one end part 21a and the other end part 21b, an inner cylinder 25 inserted into the outer cylinder 24 with a clearance by diametrically contracting or diametrically expanding the intermediate part 21c to one end part 21a and the other end part 21b in response to the outer cylinder 24 and inserting the shaft body 22, and an elastic layer 27 arranged in close contact between the outer cylinder 24 and the inner cylinder 25.
