PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical data link capable of reducing the time required for setting up a communication path with a host device. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an optical data link 6, which is removably provided in a host device 4 and is communicable with the host device 4 and comprises a signal processing circuit 16 for exchanging data with the host device 4; a processor 22 for controlling operation of the signal processing circuit 16; and a transistor 24, which is connected to the processor 22 and the host device 4 and changes a level of output impedance to the host device 4, at ending of initial processing of the processor 22 performed during mounting into the host device 4, wherein the transistor 24 is connected to a processor 34 such that the host device 4 includes, for setting up a communication path P with the processor 22, according to the change in the level of the output impedance.
