PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly practical pixel data correction device and method for gray correction of images recorded by a printer. SOLUTION: Pixel data correction processing by the correction device and method is processing for correcting pixel data including an index (Y value) of luminance or the like indicating one of luminance and lightness and one or more chrominance indexes (I value, Q value) respectively indicating chrominance. This processing is configured (S4) such that, when determined that a color specified by one or more chrominance indexes is close to an achromatic color (S3), the respective values of the one or more chrominance indexes are changed to such values that the specified color gets close to the achromatic color, to 0 to put it concretely. By simple processing of changing the respective values of one or more chrominance indexes, image data capable of recording images for which unintended coloring in an achromatic color region is suppressed or removed can be obtained.
