PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter where the power consumption of a thermoelectric module is reduced. SOLUTION: The optical transmitter 10 is provided with the module 12, a light emitting element 25, and a receiving element 24. The thermoelectric module has a first planar body 21, a second planar body 22, and a thermoelectric conversion element 20. The body 21 is insulative. The body 22 has a first region 22a and a second region 22b, and at least the region 22a is disposed as opposed to the body 21. The element 20 is interposed between the body 21 and the body 22 and contacts the body 21 and the region 22a. The element 25 is supported by the body 21.
