PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the sensor element of an object detection sensor capable of detecting the behavior of the object in the water with a high sensitivity besides approaching or being in contact with the water surface, moreover capable of detecting the contact of the object in the water. SOLUTION: The element body 11a of the sensor element 11 is constituted that in the dielectric base material 13 the coiled carbon fibers 12 are dispersed. In a base material 13, a lot of minute bubbles 13a are formed so as to make the element body 11a easy to deform. In the sensor element 11, the element body 11a is made to easily elastic deformation by the bubbles 13a so that the coiled carbon 12 in the base material 13 become easy to deform by this elastic deformation. By the result, the impedance of the sensor element 11 greatly changes depending on the pressure change imparted to the sensor element 11.
