<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of preventing deterioration in display quality due to static electricity and deterioration in display quality due to generation of reflected light although being a transverse electric field type. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a first substrate 5a and a second substrate 6a between which a liquid crystal layer 9 is sandwiched, a first polarizing layer 15a provided on the side of the first substrate 5a, a second polarizing layer 15b provided on the side of the second substrate 6a, a common electrode 32 and pixel electrodes 34 provided on the surface of the second substrate 6a on the side of the liquid crystal layer 9 across inter-layer insulating films 19 and 29, a conductive layer 40 provided between the first polarizing layer 15a and liquid crystal layer 9, a first retardation layer 41 provided between the first polarizing layer 15a and conductive layer 40, and a second retardation layer 39 provided between the conductive layer 40 and liquid crystal layer 9. The conductive layer 40 discharges static electricity, the first retardation layer 41 prevents light reflection by the conductive layer 40, and the second retardation layer 39 prevents a decrease in quantity of light in the first retardation layer 41. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
