PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a displacement of droplet hitting points which enables correct and simple calculation, and to provide a method for detecting a size of the droplet hitting point. SOLUTION: A plurality of ink liquid droplets are ejected from ejecting parts, respectively, whereby a plurality of the droplet hitting points are formed on a medium to be recorded. Image reading of reading as a reading image an image composed of the droplet hitting points formed on the medium is carried out, and the reading image is subjected to image processing. Both end positions of each droplet hitting point are calculated as position information of the droplet hitting point. The droplet hitting point position information is classified as droplet hitting point classification information for every ejecting part which ejects respective droplet hitting points. On the basis of the droplet hitting point position classification information, an approximate straight line connecting each end of the plurality of droplet hitting points ejected from one ejecting part is calculated for every ejecting part by sharing inclinations of the approximate straight lines. An interval of the droplet hitting points and the size of the droplet hitting point are calculated on the basis of the approximate straight lines obtained for every ejecting part.
