An apparatus and a method for transceiving data are provided to control the signals of a transmission sync section added to an analog image signal and add color gamut information to the transmission sync section, thereby enabling an output device to check the extension of a color gamut. A method for transceiving data comprises the following steps of: checking an analog image signal to determine whether the analog image signal is a color gamut signal(610,620); controlling the signals of a sync section added to the analog image signal and generating the color gamut information when the analog image signal is determined as the color gamut signal(630); and transmitting the analog image signal of which the color gamut information is added to the sync section(640).
