[Also in Group XVI] A pad or blanket of felt, wool or cotton for conveying ink to printing rollers is impregnated, by padding or immersion, with a silicone resin, and thereafter dried and baked, to prevent the ink penetrating the fibres to any substantial extent. Treatment is for 5-7 minutes at 150‹ C. or 10-15 minutes at 120‹ C., and examples of compositions with a 4% silicon content are (1) 40 parts silicone oil, 14 oilsoluble metal salt, 946 white spirit, (2) 66 silicone emulsion, 17 metal organic salt emulsion, 917 water. |
