<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably form images of a fixed high standard image quality, regardless of the surface roughness of a recording medium, for an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes a toner image forming means 2, a transfer means 3, a fixing means 4, a recording medium supply means 5 having a paper feed tray 35, and an ejecting means 6. The image forming apparatus 1 further includes a surface roughness detecting sensor 42 that detects the surface roughness of a recording medium; a recording medium determining means that determines the type of a recording medium, according to the detection result obtained by the surface roughness detecting sensor 42; an attached quantity control means that controls the quantity of toner attached to the recording medium, according to the result of the determination made by the recording medium determining means, and a fixing condition control means that controls the fixing conditions, according to the result of the determination made by the recording medium determining means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
