摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating a dense ceramic film having superior abrasion resistance, low aggressiveness against an opposite material and superior corrosion resistance on a substrate of various types of metals including a magnesium alloy. <P>SOLUTION: The method for coating the ceramic film on a metal includes forming the ceramic film on the surface of the metal substrate by setting the metal substrate as a working electrode and electrolyzing it in an electrolytic solution while generating a glow discharge and/or arc discharge on the surface of the metal substrate. The electrolytic solution contains zirconium oxide particles with an average particle diameter of 1μm or less, and at least one compound of an element selected from the group consisting of Mg or the like, except zirconium oxide. When the content of zirconium oxide particles in the electrolytic solution is defined as X and the content of the above compound is defined as Y, the contents satisfy the following expressions (1) to (3): (1) 0.05≤X≤500 g/L; (2) 0≤Y≤500 g/L; and (3) 0≤Y/X≤10.
