<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water storage type water heater performing a heating-up operation by applying a season-based optimum heating-up level as its initial heating-up level. <P>SOLUTION: This hot water storage type water heater comprises a hot water storage tank 1 for storing hot water, a heat source machine for heating up the hot water in the hot water storage tank 1, remaining hot water detecting means 16a, 16b, 16c, 16d for detecting the amount of hot water stored in the hot water storage tank 1, and an outside air temperature detecting means 20 for detecting an outside air temperature, and decides the heating-up level by combination of the amount of stored hot water and hot water temperature on the basis of the outside air temperature detected by the outside air temperature detecting means 20 in installing the hot water storage type water heater.
