PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a liquid crystal device having an entire-surface overcoat layer has a display defect nearby a liquid crystal injection hole of a seal material. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a pair of substrates 5a and 6a stuck together with the seal material 4 having the liquid crystal injection hole 8 and enclosing a display area V, liquid crystal injected between the pair of substrates through the liquid crystal injection hole 8, a sealing agent 10 for sealing the liquid crystal injection hole 8, and the entire-surface overcoat layer 33 provided to at least one of the pair of substrates 5a and 6a. The overcoat layer 33 extends to outside the seal material 4, and the sealing agent 10 and the overcoat layer 33 are made of an acrylic resin-containing material. The liquid crystal injection hole 8 includes an auxiliary film 51a over the entire area in the width direction Dw of the liquid crystal injection hole 8 and over the entire area in a liquid crystal inflow direction Dr thereof. Thus, the auxiliary film 51a is interposed between the sealing agent 10 and the overcoat layer 33 to suppress generation of reaction products. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
