PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current meter around which drifting bodies are hard to wind and can perform favorable current measurement by simple works. SOLUTION: The current meter comprises: a current sensor section placed in a fluid under measurement; a support rod of which the tip is provided with the current sensor section; and a mounting metal part for supporting the support rod on the side wall of a channel through which the fluid under measurement flows and measures the current of an open channel including rivers and agricultural water channels. The current sensor section comprises an excitation coil for forming a magnetic field, and electrodes for extracting electromotive force generated by the fluid under measurement which crosses the magnetic flux of the magnetic field. The front end is inclined downstream with respect to the direction orthogonal to the flow of the fluid under measurement so that the crossing angle between the direction of the magnetic flux and the flow direction of the fluid under measurement is within a range of 30°to 60°.
