Slaves in a network have two different data transfer rates. A master in the network addresses the slaves with the correct data transfer rate. The signal pattern in the network as a function of the used data transfer rate is optimized by the different impedance values of data uncoupling and the terminal resistances in the bus. The master automatically adjusts the impedance values and automatically adapts its own transmitting and receiving circuits before each change of the data transfer rate.
