A broadcasting receiver and a control method thereof are provided to offer a user interface to a user to select and delete a broadcasting signal and a channel corresponding to the broadcasting signal, thereby enabling the user to select only a channel which the user wants to receive through the user interface. When an automatic channel search function is selected from a user input unit(50), a tuner of a receiving unit(10) tunes a receiving broadcasting signal and a storage unit(20) stores channels corresponding to the received broadcasting signals. An electric filed intensity measuring unit(40) measures the electric filed intensity of the broadcasting signals corresponding to the channels. A control unit(70) divides the channels into at least one channel group and stores the divided channel group in the storage unit.
