<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately operate a flash memory over a possible longest period by appropriately managing rewrite of the flash memory, particularly, in a structure having an interface allowing an external storage device to be mounted. <P>SOLUTION: In the structure having the flash memory 7 storing control information related to operation of the device and an extension interface 8a capable of connecting an HDD 8 as the rewritable external storage device, when installation of the HDD 8 is detected, the control information stored and managed using the flash memory 7 is switched to be stored and managed by the HDD 8 after this (Print history storage 72=>expansion print history storage 82). The area of the print history storage 72 is invalidated for no further use.
