<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem associated with a difficulty of heightening both transmittance and color purity of a liquid crystal display panel together because there is a trade-off between them. <P>SOLUTION: In the construction of the liquid crystal display device: a pair of substrates; a pair of polarizing plates respectively disposed on the pair of substrates; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of substrates; a group of electrodes formed on at least one substrate of the pair of substrates for the purpose of applying an electric field to the liquid crystal layer; a color filter formed on at least one substrate of the pair of substrates; and a light source unit disposed on the rear face of one substrate of the pair of substrates are included, wherein at least color filters exhibiting blue, green, and red have been formed in the color filter, and one of wavelengths of which the transmittance values are a half of the maximum transmittance of the color filter exhibiting green is ≥590 nm and ≤610 nm, and the other is ≥470 nm and ≤500 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
