<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to perform version controlling operation in a document management system. <P>SOLUTION: When a document is saved, it is determined whether a document having the same name as the document to be saved is already version-controlled. According to the result of the determination, a dialog for making a user choose a way to save the document is changed, and the dialog thus changed is displayed.
