<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device that suppresses the decrease in contrast or generation of color irregularity by forming a cell gap uniform within a substrate plane and that shows superior display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device comprises a pair of substrates disposed mutually facing each other, a liquid crystal layer, and a color filter wherein a peripheral light-shielding layer having a layer thickness larger than that of a coloring material layer of the color filter is formed on a surface of one substrate where the color filter is disposed, in a non-display region outside the display region, and spacers 12 are disposed both in the display region A1 and the non-display region A2. The layout density of the spacers 12 in the display region A1 is fixed, while the layout density of the spacers 12 in the non-display region A2 is set smaller than that of the spacers 12 in the display region A1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
