<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing device capable of always accurately pointing an intended position even when an operation environment is bad. <P>SOLUTION: When a screen to be a pointing area is photographed by a camera installed in the pointing device, a screen image 42 is detected from a photographed image 41. According to the size of the screen image 42 to the photographed image 41, the contour of the screen image 42 is virtually expanded up to a prescribed size by regarding the center point Q of the screen image 42 as a reference point to generate a virtual screen image 43.
